Van Wyk & Seymore show the way
Divan van Wyk and Andre Seymore were the shining light for the South African Airways Challenge XI against Bangladesh on the first day of the two-day tour match at the De Beers Diamond Oval in Kimberley.
The two openers cracked 87 and 75 respectively, in a stand of 170. But after their departure, the wheels came off as the home team collapsed to 265 all out. Seamer, Mthokozisi Shezi closed the day by taking the two wickets of Tamim Iqbal (34) and Junaid Siddique (0).
The Bangladeshis reached 92/2, with captain Mohammad Ashraful unbeaten on 24 and Imrul Kayes 30. The tourists will feel buoyant after Shahadat Hossain (3/33), Mehrab Hossain, jr (3/43) and Mahbubul Alam (2/61) were successful with the ball ahead of the first Castle Test against the Proteas in Bloemfontein, starting on Wednesday.
