The Nashua Titans started their lead-up programme to the Champions League in India with a brilliant win by seven wickets over the Gestetner Diamond Eagles in the first round of MTN Domestic Championship matches on Friday night.
Both the Titans and the Nashua Dolphins have had to make early starts to their domestic campaigns to make up the games they will miss during the inaugural tournament in India.
The remarkable feature about the Titans' victory at the OUTsurance Oval in Bloemfontein was that they chased down a target of 335 with ease thanks in the main to an unbroken record fourth wicket partnership of 229 between Martin van Jaarsveld and Faf du Plessis and good support from Gulam Bodi who racked up a fast half-century.
Van Jaarsveld reached his century off 77 balls while Du Plessis, who had scored a big century the week before in the SuperSport Series, did even better, taking only 68 balls to reach three figures.
